Steven Eric Malloy was born on January 25, 1966 in Boston, Massachusetts to Bettie (Malloy) Arnold and James Walker. Steven was the younger of two children, an Irish Twin to his sister Sonya. Steven was a very active child and as such, his energies were taken up with sports. He participated in various baseball, basketball and bowling leagues from his youth into his adult years and this interest garnered him countless trophies and awards. Sports afforded him opportunities to travel the world, to observe many cultures and cross paths with many notable people.

Steven began his elementary education at the Roxbury Community School and by way of the METCO program, transferred to the Joseph E. Fiske Elementary School in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He continued his education in the Wellesley community until High School. Playing basketball in Wellesley made him quite popular and he was recruited to Don Bosco Technical High School. While studying at Cleveland State University, he was drafted to play professional basketball overseas. The pinnacle of his basketball career was being selected as a member of the Harlem Globetrotter Organization.

Following his career with the Harlem Globetrotters, Steven returned home to Boston, completed his Associates Degree at Massachusetts Bay Community College and settled into a career as a devoted Court Officer in the Massachusetts Trial Court where he served for over 25 years.

Always on the go, Steven not only enjoyed sports and traveling but pampering himself, eating well, trying new things and meeting new people – a Renaissance Man of a sort. Steven also took delight in giving back to the community, giving away countless pairs of sneakers to children in the community as an Ambassador for Under Armour. Before falling ill, he was also in the beginning stages of building his "Big Dawg Status" brand and spent a lot of time bowling with the Scorpion Bowling League. Steven lived his life to the fullest and inspired everyone around him to do the same.

Steven came from a loving and supportive family and they meant everything to him. From junior high school to college, Steven had his own fan club supporting all of his sports endeavors. He kept track of all family and friends in attendance and took note of anyone missing. Steven was especially close with his grandmother, the late Mrs. Lillie Malloy. They adored one another, sharing many meaningful times together. She visited him several times over his extended illness, preceding him in death just a month prior at 102 years old. She went ahead to prepare a place and they have since been reunited, an unbreakable bond of love.

On January 2, 2025, Steven transitioned peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Steven is survived by his mother, Bettie (Malloy) Arnold, sister Sonya Malloy, niece Briana Malloy-Walker, uncle Joseph Malloy (Renee Ellis), aunt Sandra Malloy-Lewis (Leslie Lewis), aunt Linda Malloy, cousin Willie Lewis Murray III (Tré), cousin Michele (Ron) Vasquez and baby cousin Jacques Volel-Brown (Baby Energy). Godmother Shirley Berry of California. He leaves behind a host of half-siblings (including Brian Grant (deceased), Desiree Toliver and Sonia Harrison), family, friends, mentors, colleagues and community members to cherish his memory. He will be remembered fondly as a fun, easy-going, charismatic "gentle giant" to those who knew and loved him.

Steven, Steve, Stevie, Uncle Stevie, Big Dog, Big Fella, Big Cat you have finished your race and you did it your way. Rest peacefully, you are already deeply missed.
