A Life Well Lived
With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Shirley Diane Greenwood, who was called home to glory on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the age of 61. Shirley was born on November 16, 1964, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Edna Mae Greenwood and the late Alton C. Greenwood. From an early age, she carried a bright spirit and a strong sense of family that stayed with her throughout her life.
She attended English High School in Boston and went on to work at Paul’s on Parker Street in Roxbury, along with several other customer service positions over the years. Shirley was known by all who met her for her kindness, her generous heart, her unwavering dedication, and her quick sense of humor that could light up any room.
Faith and Service
Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and remained rooted in her faith throughout her life. She was a devoted member of The United House of Prayer for All People, where she joyfully served in the choir, known as The McCullough Sensationals. She also faithfully attended Sunday school and youth services in her earlier years. Shirley loved the Lord deeply and was blessed to receive the Holy Ghost, which guided her walk and strengthened her spirit.
Family
She is preceded in death by her late brother affectionately known as “Pig,” as well as her late brother Robert Lee, Lewis, and late brother Knowell Greenwood.Shirley leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with her loving family, including her devoted spouse, Roger W. Lucas. She is also left behind by her beloved children: Michelle Melton- Partner (Catrina Cooley), Virgil Watson, Samson Melton, Skyra Watson, Regina Greenwood, And her beloved Grandchildren: Mari, Roshawn, Lamar, Frankie, Kendrell, Lamaria, Emir, Samson Jr., and Brailyn. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Theresa Azukie, Charles Greenwood, Alton Greenwood, Isee Greenwood, and Patricia Greenwood. Shirley held a special bond with her favorite nieces, Jamilla Howard and Shakera Pina, and she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives who will forever hold her memory close.
Legacy
Shirley will be remembered most for her strong faith in God, her loving and giving heart, and the gentle spirit she shared so freely with others. She touched many lives in ways both big and small, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith. Though her physical presence is deeply missed, the love she gave and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
