Obituary

Saundra A. Perry was born on January 16, 1941, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Bazeley E. Perry and the late Mattie L. Perry. She was the eldest sibling of the late Bazeley E. Perry Jr. and Stephanie M. Harden.

Growing up in a musical family, Saundra was immersed in the vibrant culture of jazz from an early age. She graduated from Brighton High School and went on to attend La Newton School of Beauty Culture, where she earned her cosmetology license.

Saundra later embarked on a long and successful career in the travel industry. She began with Northeast Airlines, known as the "Yellowbird," which eventually merged with Delta Airlines. She retired from Delta after 43 years of dedicated service. Her work fueled her passion for travel, and she especially loved visiting her favorite Caribbean islands.

Family was the heart of Saundra's life. She was the proud mother of two sons. Her eldest, the late Louis "Skip" Burns, blessed her with three grandchildren: Jawara A. Carnes, Terese L. Burns, and Jocelyn L. Christmas. Her youngest son, Bazeley A. Burns, gave her three more grandchildren: Keonne A. Burns, Deonne B. Burns, and Nia Francis. She also cherished her stepson, Kem Weathers, and his three children. Saundra leaves behind her long-time friend, Roscoe Baker, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and dear lifelong friends.

She will be remembered for her warmth, her love of family, her devotion to her community, and her adventurous spirit that carried her across the skies and into the hearts of all who knew her.
