A Towering Figure of Faith, Love and Service, Enters Eternal Rest
Reverend Roland Clinton McCall, whose life was dedicated to faith, service, and unwavering commitment to God's people, passed away at the age of 72 on February 16, 2025. Born on August 4, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA, he answered the call to preach and received his license in 1973. God's calling on his life led him to Boston in 1982, where he was appointed to Grant A.M.E. Church. For 27 years, he poured his heart into the congregation, not only leading them spiritually but also strengthening the very foundation of the church. Reverend McCall's life was a testament to his faith, resilience, and steadfast belief that "God's work, done in God's way, will always have God's support." His ministry left an indelible mark on every church he pastored, every minister he mentored, and every soul he touched. He has finished his course, fought the good fight, and now rests in the arms of his Savior. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda McCall, his four daughters, Robina Shepherd, Janine McCall, DeAnna McCall, and Rolanda McCall; son-in-love, Charles Shepherd II; two grandchildren, Charles Shepherd III and Vanessa Shepherd; as well as extended family, friends, and a devoted church community. A funeral service will be held at Grant A.M.E. Church, 1906 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02118, on March 2, 2025 at 3:30pm. Reverend McCall will be laid to rest alongside his beloved mother at Forest Hill Cemetery (Jamaica Plains, MA).
