Robert Hunt, Jr, the beloved son the late Robert Hunt, Sr. and Pearl Barnes Hunt departed this life on October 10, 2024. On November 20, 1951, he was born in Southampton County in Franklin, Virginia, and educated at Hayden High School.

On October 18, 2024, his only daughter, Shamika Bolware joined him in death.

From birth Shamika and Robert had a unique bonding as father and daughter.

Shamika was born shortly after Robert moved to Boston in 1969 to be with his mother. He started working in the laundry industry until he became a bus monitor for the Boston Public School System. His greatest pleasure was being the monitor on the bus with his cousin, who he called Captain. He worked security for a while and ended his working career back in the laundry industry.

Hunt lived by his own principles even though he spent his early youth years in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. He was a man of faith and cared deeply about his family. He cared about children and was known in the Georgetown community, where he lived out his retirement years, to give out popsicles and cookies to children and a helping hand to those in needs. Words like "adopted" or "surrogate" were never used to describe the grandfather relationship he had with Shiann Bradley. He was her "papa" and she was his granddaughter.

Robert was preceded in death by his Special friend, Sarah Bradley; father, Robert Hunt, Sr.; grandmother, Mrs. Novella Scott, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Pearl Barnes of Hyde Park; sister, Rev. Dr. Sandras M. Barnes of Hyde Park; brother, Willie Hughes (TC) of Brockton; niece, Becky Hughes of Waterbury, CT; aunt, Marjorie "Margie" V. Saunders of California; Close Cousins: Deacon Jimmie Barnes; Anthony Barnes (Dawn); Wayne Barnes (Carla); Robert Flood (Rose); Chris "Gail" Barnes. Uncle Robert to Lamont Brown, Andrew Brown, Anthony Webb, Michelle Barnes, Miranda Barnes & Danielle Barnes all of Boston and James Barnes of Taunton. A host of cousins in VA, NC, CT, GA, and CA. Wes and Brenda Hunter were more family than friends. Special thank you to his neighbor Ms. Frances Smith and friend Jake Coakley.
