Richard W. Cody of Brockton, MA (formerly of Dorchester, MA) passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital on Sunday, February, 11, 2024 at the age of 68. His wife, Deborah Ross-Cody and stepdaughter Tanya Ross were by his side. Richard is predeceased by his parents James T. Cody and Edith M. (Respess) Cody, and a sister Gloria A. James. Richard is survived by his wife of forty years, Deborah, of Brockton, MA; two stepchildren, John C. Ross of Boston, MA and Tanya C. Ross of Brockton, MA; his sister Juanita (Cody) Thomas of Jacksonville, Florida, two brothers James T. Cody, Jr. and Ronald S. Cody both of Boston, MA and several nieces, nephews, one great nephew and other family and friends.

Richard was a graduate of Dorchester High School (1973) and then went on to further his education while attending Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois where he obtained his Bachelors Degree in Political Science. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He worked in public service for over thirty-two years as a Tax Examiner with the Department of Revenue and over ten years with Fidelity Investment managing mutual funds.

Richard was the easiest going most kindhearted person I've ever known. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who reached out to him. He cared more about others happiness than he did his own. He was selfless, hardworking, strong and loyal with the best sense of humor ever. He loved listening to music, reading and gardening but most of all sports. Richard could talk about sports for hours (if you tried to change the subject, he would always bring it right back to sports). We are all lessened with his passing. Everyone who knew Richard and those whose lives he touched will be forever enriched.
