Rachelle C
Couch
Jun 8, 1962 — Sep 24, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rachelle Couch, a beloved mother, grandmother, godmother, friend, and dedicated public servant. Rachelle, born and raised in Boston, MA, was a proud graduate of Boston Technical High School, Class of 1980. Throughout her impressive career, she held various positions, including roles with the Board of Probation Administration, Concord State Prison, as a Corrections Officer, Court Officer, and with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Rachelle concluded her 32-year professional journey as a Boston Police Officer, exemplifying her unwavering commitment to service.
Rachelle pursued higher education with determination, taking classes at Framingham State College and earning her Bachelor's Degree from Curry College. Among her fondest memories was a cherished vacation to the Bahamas in her 20s with her closest friends Shenia, Jemise, and Anna Dancy, as well as a memorable cruise in 2001 with her dear friend Lisa Holmes, made possible by her roommate Bernadine Blacknall Kirkland.
Rachelle's greatest loves were her son, Brandon, and her grandson, John. She found immense joy and fulfillment in her family, also serving as a loving godmother to Anthony and Antoine. She was a cherished daughter to Edmond and Rachel (Woods) Couch and a loyal friend to many, including her best friends Shenia and Bern.
A strong woman of faith, Rachelle found solace in her relationship with the Lord, nurtured under the guidance of her beloved Pastors, Doctors Ron and Kim Odom of True Vine Church, where she faithfully served as a Truevinnian until her passing. Her greeting, "Blessings & Glory," reflected her warm spirit and loving nature.
After retiring in 2019, Rachelle was diagnosed with cancer, a battle she faced with courage and tenacity until the end. She was a loving, intelligent, and funny individual who touched the lives of everyone she met and had a beautiful smile that could light up a room.
Rachelle is survived by her son, Brandon Ruelas and grandson, John Ruelas of Boston, MA; aunt and uncle, Nellie and Douglas Powell of Boston, MA; Hattie and Johnson Ajayi of Talbotton, GA; cousins Martha Adams, Cilla Adams, Sappho Johnson, Alicia Pressley, Douglas Nelson Powell, Jesse Couch Jr., Candace Sealy of Boston, MA; Annette Brown, Darlene Woods-Allen, Ernie Woods, Michael Woods, Carolyn Woods, Cynthia Woods, Ricky Woods of Greensboro, NC; Cheryl Woods of Atlanta, GA; Vicki Tate of Stone Mountain, GA; Jessie "Teenie" Couch of Kingsland, GA; Michael Ajayi of Talbotton, GA; and Theodore Woods Jr of Houston, TX as well as countless friends and family who will miss her dearly.
Rachelle Couch will forever be remembered for her strength, love, and unwavering faith. May she rest in peace.
