Queen Esther Johnson affectionately known as Moa or Queenie was born in Danville Virginia to the late Sadie Cammon. She was raised by her grandparents the late Willie and Mittle Chambers. Queen Esther spent years in both Baltimore and New York as a child before settling in Boston Massachusetts where she met her husband the late David Johnson.
Queen Esther was a stay at home mom for years raising her 5 children and her late sister Willie Mae's 3 children before going to work in the mailroom at Stone and Webster. She enjoyed her time playing bingo and cards with her mother and friends as well as spending time and helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Queen Esther was a lifetime member of the Ramsey VFW Post in Dorchester, Ma and was a participant in the Auxiliary Ladies group. She also was a member of the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind where she received services and community with others like herself.
In her older age she enjoyed traveling between her children, going to the casino and watching her favorite Madea plays and movies. Queen Esther was a friend to many and loved to call everyone to check on them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her brothers Richard, Willie and Melvin Cammon, her niece Lisa Jackson, her granddaughter Alisha Gonzalez and her only son Mark Johnson. She is survived by her children Denise Eason, Phyllis Johnson, Tanya Williams, and Angela Gonzalez, her niece Brenda Rucker, nephew Kenneth Jackson and great nephew Kyle Jackson, her grandchildren Tasha Cox, Anthony Johnson, LaToya Williams and Mika Johnson.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, her 12 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
