Boston
Phyllis Martin of Dorchester, MA peacefully passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the age of 82. Born on April 7, 1941 as the daughter of the late William and Annie Beatrice Pearson, she lived and raised her family in the City of Boston her entire life. A product of the Boston Public Schools, she graduated from the Jeremiah Burke High School for Girls in 1958. She worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and for almost twenty years for Boston Scientific retiring early when the company relocated. She became a long-time parishioner of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Roxbury when her mother came to worship at the former St. John-St. Hugh's after the closing of the Blessed Sacrament Church. She enjoyed playing the lottery and her music videos and could tell you everything about the lives of her favorite celebrities. Everyone called her "grandma" because of her personal love and her willingness to care for you no matter your circumstance. Phyllis is predeceased by her former husband Willie Martin and longtime companion James Gooding and her siblings Mary Elizabeth Seymour, and William, Jr., Robert, Lawrence, James, Leona and Joseph Pearson and her grandson James Martin, Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing and continue her legacy, her brother Leonard Pearson, Sr and his wife Phyllis of Boston, sister-in-law Fannie Bell Pearson of Easton; her beloved children, Phyllis "Bunny" Martin of Boston, Willie "Pluggy" Martin of Framingham, and his late wife Ciarra Moss Martin, Mark Martin of Boston, Tracy Hines and her husband Michael Sr. of Cary, NC and James "Jamie" Martin and his wife Andrea of Brockton and their brother Willie "Chill" Carrington of Boston; her sixteen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
