(Herbert) Wood
Oct 21, 1936 — May 11, 2024

Myrtle (Mazie) Iolene Herbert was born in the parish of St. Michael, Barbados, on October 21, 1936, to the late Irene Herbert and Charles Dowell. She was educated in the Parish of St. Michael at Edghill Memorial Girls School.
She was married to the late Lionel Wood (Woodsey/Tickerd). From that union, four children were born. Myrtle immigrated to Boston in 1972.
Her most recent employment was at Park Plaza as a Housekeeping Supervisor. She retired in 2002, leaving behind a successful and fulfilling career at the company.
She was known for her infectious sense of humor and love for laughter, which brought joy to all those around her. She was also a lover of flowers, particularly roses, which she tended to with great care and admiration. She had an impeccable sense of style and a vision of elegance and grace, and she was known for her impeccable taste in fashion.
Above all, she cherished the time spent with her grandkids, who brought her endless joy and happiness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in the memories of those she touched throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by five siblings: Berti Dowell, Beatrice Dowell (Baby), Margery Dowell, Nicey Dowell, and Clyde Dowell. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Herbert. She leaves a devoted and loving family to cherish her memories: Children Elaine Hunte (Clyde Hunte), Sandra Herbert, Anthony Herbert (Lori Hebert), and Betty Thevenin (Carl Thevenin); Grandchildren Stephen and Michael Hunte, Natasha Underwood, Brandon, Natalie, Kobey and Kayla Herbert; Great Grandchildren Riley and Oliver Herbert, and Nathan Underwood; Aunt of Margaret and Michael Phillip, Darnley Dowell, Sandra Taylor and Sonia Herbert, Wendy, Richard, David, Leroy, Rudell Fenty, and numerous family members in Barbados.
