Obituary

Mildred Johnson, age 96, of Boston, Massachusetts, entered eternal rest on Wednesday morning, February 18, 2026 at home with her daughter Diane by her side.

Born on September 7, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of Gertrude and William Harris and one of their 17 children. From an early age, Mildred carried a spirit of quiet strength, grace, and determination, qualities that defined her life for nearly a century.

Mildred built a life rooted in family, faith, and purpose. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, GG, aunt, great aunt, sister, and a steady source of wisdom, love and laughter to all who knew her. She was known for her quick wit, her honesty, her prayers, her warmth, her support, and for the way she made people feel seen and cared for even silently.

Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to her community, as a paraprofessional working with children, through her Church, fighting for seniors, and stood as a proud union member. She took great pride in raising her family, spending time with family and being present for friends, and she carried herself with a dignity that left a lasting impression for everyone that met her.

She was preceded in death by her former husband Robert U. Johnson, Sr. and her son, Dana Johnson.

Her legacy lives on through her family: her sisters, Pauline Durant, Bertha Harris and Marion Harris, her children, Jamal Hakeem, Diane Johnson, Mark Johnson (Lenora Johnson), her grandchildren, Nakeisha Johnson, Shaune Johnson (Adriana Johnson), Katherine Johnson Drayton, her great-grandchildren, Elise Drayton, Eva Drayton, Grace McGuffie, Carter Johnson, Caleb Johnson, and a wide circle of family, loved ones and friends who will forever carry her memory.
