Obituary

Beloved husband and Father

Michael Steven Godbold was born on January 31,1961 to Shirley Leyva and Dale Godbold. He was raised by his grandmother Arleen Pearson, loving Aunts Rita, Beverly, Delores, Pat and Uncle Melvin. He enjoyed time with his cousins, playing games of basketball, and having fun outside. His childhood was filled with memories of family trips to Newburyport, Cape Cod, and to New York City.

He often talked about his many friends growing up on Waumbeck Street, summer days on the basketball court and snowball fights in the winter. He made many friends through the years of his life. Too many friends to list but he cherished Boyd, Gary, Greg, Bow, Benjamin, Solomon, Haywood, Kenneth, Mark, Randy, Vince, Joseph, and Larry.

He attended Madison Park High School and later joined Job Corps where he learned the welding trade. He was first employed by New England Medical Center, now Tufts Medical Center, as an orderly. He loved meeting and talking to patients, but he then moved to become a pharmacist assistant. One thing about Michael, he was a "people" person. But life led him to LaRosa Landscaping Company. He moved up in the company and became a foreman. The most important thing about Michael is that throughout his life he showed everyone around him is that life is what you make it. He went through obstacles and situations that many people would allow to break them. Instead, he showed love, kindness and forgiveness.  He opened his heart and home to many. On his journey through life, he judged no one.

Michael's family church was Twelfth Baptist. It was the home for his grandmother Arlene Pearson and great mother Mimi. On April 9, 2025, Michael gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Twelfth Baptist. The angels rejoiced!  He is now with His Lord!

He married the love of his life, Cheryl Dottin on May 11, 1998.  Their union produced Michelle and Michael, Jr. "Mikey". A loving husband and father, he made himself available to his family. Family first. He had no issues with sacrificing for his family.
