Our beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend, Melissa Jacklyn Warren, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 16, 2024, at the young age of 39.

Melissa was born in Boston, MA on January 11, 1985, to Pamela Joyce Baden.  Affectionately known as "Lissa" or "Meme" she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 2004.

Melissa gave her life to the Lord at an early age, as member of Eliot Congregational Church in Roxbury, attending church with her "Nana" Lorraine J. Baden. She was an active member of the youth ministry and youth choir for several years.

Melissa attended Laboure' College of HealthCare in Milton MA, where she received an associate degree in Health Administration. Melissa's own health concerns prompted her desire to begin a second discipline, the Nursing Program at Laboure' College as well.

Melissa was a true warrior, she never let Sickle Cell Disease prevent her from pursuing her interests and enjoying life to the fullest.  Due to the medical challenges brought on by the disease, her studies were unfortunately interrupted. Melissa was very active in the care she received at Children's Hospital of Boston and at Brigham & Women's hospital. The interruptions in her education generated a great desire to continue studying, researching the causes, and seeking out progressive treatments for the disease.  Melissa joined in several Greater Boston Sickle Cell events as an active participant and fund raiser.

Melissa attributed her love of 'Sci-Fi" to her "GranPa". Some of her interests included her love for the craft of beading", she also had a love for animals, both live and stuffed. Melissa loved videos, during the pandemic, she learned quickly the technology how to get the latest cinema movies streamed at home which she always tried to share with family members. She was an avid internet shopper, keeping up with the latest styles without leaving the comfort of home.  But, most of all Lissa loved people!  Family, friends, neighbors, care givers, physicians, and nursing staff. Everyone knew and loved Lissa!

Abraham Lincoln said, "All I am and all I hope to be, I owe to my mother." The relationship Lissa had with her mother Pam was like no other. They shared an unbreakable bond.

She was selfless and put others first. She was fun loving, outgoing and vivacious. She was an example to so many in and out of the hospital, and a shining light to all who knew her. When you think of Lissa, celebrate the good memories you have of her. She will be missed more than any words could express but she will be forever in our hearts till we meet again.

Melissa is preceded in death by her Grandfather Jack S. Baden, Aunts: Laura E. Baden, Janis M. Baden and Cousin Antoine Lewis.

Melissa is survived by her mother Pamela J. Baden, who raised her with unconditional faith, love and support; Grandmother Lorraine J. Baden, the Prayer Warrior, Aunts: Crystal Baden-Bland (Norman), Debra Paschal (Richard), Karin Anderson (Jeffrey), Uncles: Stanley R. Baden, Steven W. Baden (Andrea). Melissa has 5 Godmothers: Debra Paschal, Francine Hardy, Adelle Coren, Gwendolyn Nichols and the Late Vicie Rogers. God-father Richard Paschal Sr., Great Aunts: Barbara Lewis, Laura Thomas, Great Uncles: Logan J. Williams Jr., and Robert A. Williams. Her cousins: Rakeem Baden, Jasmine Lewis, Lauryn Chang, Tayla Paschal, Malcom Baden, Lee Tutt, Denise Tutt, Shantel Hinds, Kaelyn Anderson, Harrison Baden, Dillon Baden, Richard Paschal Jr., Alexandria Anderson, Macall Baden, Jalisa Anderson and Sierra Anderson. God brother John Jackson, God children: Mya Mooney, Jaaliyah Clark, and Avery Yim, and a host of cousins and friends. Sister friends: Sheanna, Shana, Sherice, Gabby, Renda, Male friends: Antoine, and Jeremy.
