Maurice Gary Pope passed away on July 6, 2024, at the age of 71, in Boston, MA. He was the beloved son of Betty Louise Pope and Alvin Monroe Pope, born in 1952, and the brother of Alvin C. Pope and Paula C. Pope. Gary grew up a member of the Charles Street Church and sang in the choir. He graduated from Washington Irving Junior High in June 1967 and attended Charlestown High School, where he completed a 5-year Cooperative Industrial Electrical Course in June 1971. He went on to pursue a career as an electrician, working for General Electric for over 20 years. Gary Pope was affectionately known and revered in the musical community as "The Foot" for his impressive style of drumming and played in several bands across New England.

He is survived by his Mother Betty Louise Pope, his children Dolores Tenee Hamilton and Maurice Teree Pope, his grandchildren Tamia and Rhys Pope, and Laila Pope-Roseway, his niece's April L. Foster-Durant and Courtney Morgan Pope, his nephew's Chache Pope and Chauncey Arthur Pope and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
