Maurice Paul Darcy, 77, of Boston, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

The only child of George & Gladys Darby was born April 1, 1948, in Bronx, NY. The family moved to Boston when Maurice was a toddler. He was 5 years old when his dad began to lose his sight. His father taught him to cook, clean, and care for him while his mom went to work.

Maurice extended that helping hand to others throughout his life. Always there for family & friends, Maurice could be counted on in times of need. In his youth he was quite athletic. He played football for English High and was apart of a rowing crew in college. Maurice was an excellent cook. He loved Miles Davis, James Baldwin, Ray Bradbury, and Salvador Dali, to name a few.

Maurice was a deeply spiritual, loyal, and loving man. There will never be another one like him. Survived by his wife, Gwyn Kibbe Darby, his grandson Michael, and his two granddaughters, Shurdell and Darling Rosa.

Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society.
