Obituary

Marvin DeCosta 3rd son to parent's Thomas and Sue DeCosta was born April 15, 1946, in Hampton, SC.

Marvin attended Ben Hazel Elementary School during his early adolescence years. There he became known for his carefree spirit and his knack for challenging authority.

He graduated from North District Training High School, Varnville, SC in June 1963 where he obtained his H.S. Diploma and vocational certification in masonry.

After graduation Marvin moved to Boston where God continued to bless his life. He began his employment career as a dietician at Massachusetts General Hospital and met his loving wife Ahzella. His decision to rededicate his spiritual journey led him to St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he became an active member. Because of his commitment, dedication and works, he was ordained as a deacon where he served faithfully until passing on December 23, 2024.

Marvin leaves behind grandson Gregory Burnett, Jr., Daughter-in-law Telesha L. Mervin, Boston, MA. Sister-in-law Marian Decosta, three siblings, oldest brother James P. Hagood, Hampton, S.C., sister Merilyn and brother-in-law Jackie Weaver, Boston, MA., youngest brother Randolph and sister-in-law Charmaine DeCosta Stockton, C.A., a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Marvin was a loving husband, father, brother and friend and will be missed by many.
