Marianne P. Mayfield (Ferguson) was born Wednesday, August 4, 1954, on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Helen and Laurence Mayfield. After a courageous fight with cancer, she transitioned in the early morning of Thursday, June 14, 2018. She is predeceased by her two older brothers, Laurence Jr. and William Mayfield.

To treasure her loving memory, she leaves her three children, Jessica, Christopher, and Nicole, beloved niece, Nina Mayfield, brother Darrell Mayfield, as well as her newborn grandson, Leo Ferguson (whose arrival inspired her to beat her initially grim prognosis by nine months exactly!), extended family, scores of friends, near and far, and her dear German Shepherd, Beta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Marianne P. Mayfield's name payable to Dr. Yurgelun's Research Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute:
