Obituary

Mamie Lou Holman, also lovingly known as “Bay,” was born in Eutawville, South Carolina, to the late William Duke Holman and Clair Washington Holman. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Mamie Lou was raised in Holly Hill, South Carolina, where she attended public school. At an early age, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked at Gillette until her retirement on January 1, 1995. She lived in Boston for approximately 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Lee Holman, and her sisters, Nora Lee Clark and Estelle Holman.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Ernell (John) Johnson of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and S.G. Vernette Holman of Boston, Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Anthony Holman and Tamika Holman of Boston, Massachusetts; Tasha L. Taste of Columbia, South Carolina; Michelle Taste of Holly Hill, South Carolina; and Lanette Johnson of Orangeburg, South Carolina; 15 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; 3 special nieces, Laverne Clark, Jennifer Clark, and Tahiti Elmore; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Mamie Lou will be lovingly remembered for the life she shared with her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and loved ones.
