Lynne Jackson of Roxbury, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in her home on July 19, 2023.

Lynne Susan Jackson was born to Henry Eugene Jackson and Georgianna Gertrude Jackson on July 26,1955 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Lynne graduated from Girls High School in Boston and continued on to Wheelock College where she earned an Associate degree in early childhood education.

She began her career as a teacher at the Dearborn School in Orchard Park, Roxbury and became a preschool teacher at the Lena Park Community Center. This began a remarkable career as a loyal and caring leader in the City of Boston.

Lynne then worked for the next 40 years for the City of Boston Center's for Youth and Families (BCYF) in a variety of leadership positions. She was a founding staff leader for the Citywide Youth Outreach Program (YOP) and helped to establish the City of Boston Youth Congress and the Festival of Hope.

She went on to become the Director of several of Boston's most important Community Centers including the Orchard Gardens Community Center, the Mattahunt Community Center, the Gallivan Community Center and the Mildred Avenue Community Center. She was a role model and mentor to community youth workers for her entire life.

Lynne was a beloved lifelong youth worker, community leader and dedicated public servant in the City of Boston. Lynne was the safe haven to all children, teenagers, as well as so many young adults. She exposed the youth of our communities to a variety of experiences beyond their own neighborhoods. She had unlimited energy to organize adventurous trips which are remembered and cherished to this day by all who participated. Lynne allowed young people to dream, to strive and grow and the memories she helped to create live on in our children and grandchildren.

She impacted countless lives and was a tireless advocate for her community. She radiated warmth, positivity and realness. She always had time for children and families, and her loving care embraced everyone she came into contact with. She was an amazing person who made a huge difference in her lifetime.

Lynne won dozens of awards and was particularly proud to have presented President Bill Clinton with the Boston Community Centers Award in 1999.

Lynne is pre-deceased by her grandson, Dana Jackson. Lynne lived for her family and is survived by her brother, Frederick Lopes, two daughters, Nakesha Edmonds and Christian Jackson of Roxbury as well her 5 grandchildren, Dominick Jackson, Jayson Edmonds, Jailyn Edmonds of Roxbury and Olivya Deeble and Daniella Deeble of Dorchester, and her son-in-law Jason Edmonds. In addition, Lynne adored her god daughter, Shermaine Smith of Jamaica Plain and her god sons, Gary Bynoe of Dorchester and Dana Jones of Roslindale.
