Ms. Lisa Romonia Dix was the youngest of three daughters born to the late Ralph Dix and Mittie Frazier Dix Thomas on February 1, 1954.  At age five, she accepted God as her personal Lord and Savior along with her sisters, Marcella and the late Jacqueline Dix-Smith. After leaving Troy, Alabama, her birthplace, Lisa was educated in the Boston Public Schools. She attended Wesleyan University and graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts. A Compassionate Artisan; astute scholar; confidant; con- cert mistress; consummate professional; family oriented; historian; instructor; linguist; mediator; strategist; wordsmith; truly a Woman of Valor.

Lisa was hilarious, a lover of cartoons, Harry Potter, Avengers, crime shows, science fiction, chocolate enthusiast, tuna fish connoisseur, gardening extraordinaire, Interior Designer and Decorator, shopping, Muse, talking to God, sewing, music.

After 20 plus years of public service in progressively exigent positions at Youth Activities Commission, Boston Community Schools, Boston Community Centers and the Inspectional Services Department, she retired in the 2000s from her positions as Director of Operations and Finance for Boston Centers for Youth and Families, a department she helped launch.

Lisa joined Twelfth Baptist Church in the early sixties. She was a member of the Church Council, African American History Committee, the Grants Ministry and the 185 Anniversary Celebration committee. She also taught Thai Ji Quan Moving for Better Balance to seniors at TBC as a Volunteer for Ethos.

Lisa remained active in her community and was profoundly interested in quality-of-life issues, including community engagement and development, historic preservation and the arts. She was the co-chairperson of the Woodhaven Culbert Regis Neighborhood Association and served on numerous community advisory groups including the Communities of Color, design advisory groups for State and local development projects and studies.
