Lillie May (Ray/Shaw) Malloy was born on October 2, 1922 to the late Maggie Ray and Arthur Shaw; in Carthage, North Carolina. The younger of two daughters. Their mother died when Lillie was quite young and the girls were raised by extended family.

Lillie attended the Laurinburg Institute where she met Josephus Lee Malloy. They were united in holy matrimony in 1943 and shortly thereafter the young couple relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where Lillie's father was residing. To this union were born four children, Joseph, Bettie, Sandra and Linda.

Lillie worked for many years doing seamstress work. She instilled in her children a respect and value for hard work. Yet, she wanted more for her children and she encouraged them to pursue higher education; all having pursued post-secondary degrees. She credited the Reverend Dr. Michael E. Haynes (deceased) of Twelfth Baptist Church for his counsel.

Lillie joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Samuel H. Bullock and has been a faithful member for nearly 70 years. Lillie took delight in her position as President of the Senior Usher Board for over 30 years – traveling to conferences across the country with the International Church Ushers Association of New England, Inc. and achieving many awards for her service, including Usher of the Year in 2008. She ran a tight usher board, ensuring that all who were under her tutelage were well trained in the craft of ushering. She attended all usher services throughout the local area as well as nationally representing the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Senior Choir, Flower Club and all acts of charity.

Lillie was a lifetime member of the Celestial Chapter #6, Prince Hall Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Jurisdiction of MA, Inc. She enjoyed the sisterhood and doing community work with the organization.

Lillie was a powerful woman that enjoyed traveling and staying on the go. For many years she was an active participant in the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center "Sensational Seniors" Exercise Program and Water Aerobics at the Roxbury YMCA. She was also an avid cook and baker. People near and far enjoyed her homemade Coconut and German Chocolate cakes and requested them for all types of special occasions.

On December 6, 2024 Lillie was called home to glory at 102 years old, where she reunited with her heavenly father and the ancestors. Lillie leaves behind many who will cherish her memory. Her children: Joseph (Renee Ellis), Bettie, Sandra (Leslie) Lewis and Linda. Her grandchildren: Sonya, Steven, Michele (Ron) Vasquez, and Willie Lewis Murray III (Tré); Her great granddaughters Briana, Téa and Kai. And a host of nieces and nephews. The Collins, Williams, Shaw, and Harris families were pillars of love and support for so many years. Lillie was also a "bonus mother" to many including but not limited to Shirley Berry, Janis Jackman, Delatha Collins, Dr. Carroll W. Blake, Leslie and Beverly Harris, Albert Newton (deceased), Wayne Lucas, Gislhaine Salomon and Sylvester Silcott. She was predeceased by her parents, Maggie and Arthur, her husband Josephus and her sister Hannah.

Dearest Mother aka Ma, Mama, Ma Malloy, Aunt Lillie, Aunt Lil and Mrs. Malloy, you will be so missed!
