Obituary

Kevin A. Clanton, age 63, peacefully entered eternal rest on June 21, 2026.

Born on January 10, 1963, in Boston, Massachusetts, Kevin was the beloved third son of Alexander and Lillie Clanton. Kevin was known for seeing the world just a little differently than those around him—a unique perspective that endeared him to family, friends, and all who knew him.

Kevin was raised in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and was baptized at People's Baptist Church in Roxbury in 1974. He graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1981, where he formed lifelong friendships that he cherished throughout his life. He later attended the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he discovered a passion for the game Dungeons & Dragons. What began as a hobby grew into a lifelong commitment to a vibrant community of gamers and Comic-Con enthusiasts, with whom he shared countless adventures and lasting friendships.

Kevin was also an avid reader like his mother and deeply passionate about history, particularly military history. He looked forward each year to attending historic battle reenactments, and his remarkable knowledge of wartime events and historical facts became legendary among his family and friends.

Kevin devoted more than 40 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston, working for Boston Public Schools. Public service was truly a family tradition. His father, mother, two brothers, and one nephew also served the City of Boston in various capacities, reflecting a shared legacy of commitment to their community and to supporting students and the school system.

Following the passing of his beloved mother in 2007, Kevin recommitted his life to the Lord and became a faithful member of Timothy Baptist Church. Seeking ways to serve, he joined the church's Flower Ministry, where he faithfully served for many years. His dedication and leadership were recognized when he was elected to serve two terms as president. Kevin took great pride in supporting the ministry and working alongside fellow members as they prepared the floral arrangements that enhanced worship services and special occasions. He quietly served God and his church family with a willing heart.

Kevin leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Rev. Larry Green (Betty) of Brockton, Massachusetts; his brother, Mark A. Clanton (Renee) of Dorchester, Massachusetts; and his sister, Belinda Clanton of Mattapan, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Rodney L. Clanton, Brian Greene, Dynella Priest, Kieta Clanton, Larry Green Jr., Darryl Green (Samantha), Jessica Green-Bristol (Dashawn), Mark A. Lynch (Maria), Aaron Clanton, and Nicole Clanton, along with many extended family members, dear friends, fellow gamers, church family, and colleagues who will forever cherish his memory. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Clanton; his mother, Lillie Clanton; his sister, Alexis Clanton-Greene; and his niece, Janeen Greene.

Kevin's life was one marked by quiet dedication, unwavering curiosity, faithful service, and a deep appreciation for history, fellowship, and family. Whether sharing stories from history, embarking on an epic gaming adventure, tending flowers at church, or serving his community through Boston Public Schools, Kevin touched countless lives in his own distinctive way. His memory will remain a lasting blessing, and his legacy of quiet faithfulness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
