Obituary

Julius "Ray" Arrington Sr., son of Beatrice Arrington (Coel) and Arthur Arrington, was born on July 23, 1940 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina departed this life on September 14, 2025.

He received his education in the public schools of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

He relocated to Boston, Massachusetts in the 1960's. He was employed by the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) for 30 years.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Catherine E. Williams on August 6, 1966. From this union, 3 children were born, they were the joy of his life. He was a devoted husband and father who was very proud of his family. He was a strict disciplinarian who encouraged us to reach for the highest achievements. He educated us on the importance of God in our lives for without him nothing is possible.

Julius "Ray" Arrington Sr. accepted Christ as an adolescent and became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in the early 1990's under the leadership of Bishop John M. Borders, III.

As a member, he served faithfully as part of the Guardians, the Senior Ministry and the Men's Choir. He enjoyed traveling, sports, outdoor activities, events, gospel music, cooking and eating delicious food.

The life and memory of our loved one shall long be remembered by his beloved wife Catherine E. Arrington (Preceded in death); his children, Claudette Barros, Juliana Arrington and Julius R. Arrington Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Charlotte Arrington; his grandchildren, Danielle Barros, Simone Barros and Jasmine Arrington; his great grandchildren, Isaiah McDonough, Joseph Borges III, Christian Borges and Kingston Graves; his sisters Georgia Carter (Dobson) and Josephine Eason; his brother-in-law Johnnie Eason; his sisters-in-law Andorus Arrington and Louise Eleanor Arrington; (Preceded in death) his sisters Catherine White and Bernice Allen; his brothers Willie Lee Arrington, Raymond Arrington Sr., Arthur Arrington Jr. and Maso Arrington; his sisters-in-law Lillie Arrington and Nannie Arrington; his brothers-in-law Silas Dobson, Johnnie White and Tom Allen as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
