Johnnie Mae Carter was born on October 19, 1944 to the late Rufus Sr. and Mary Felder in Perry, Georgia. She was the third of 8 children. She attended Perry Public School. Johnnie later moved to Boston where she met Albert Carter Sr., who was the love of her life, the two then married in June 1964.This union lasted 48 years with five children until the passing of her beloved husband in 2012.
Johnnie spent many years as an early childhood educator at Wee Toddler Educational Center where she retired in 2003.
Johnnie is preceded in death by her husband Albert Carter Sr., parents Rufus Sr. and Mary Felder, sister Ezzie Henry and two long time friends Gwen Pight and Georgia Howard.
Johnnie leaves to cherish her memory, her four sons Albert (Helena) Carter, Jr., Tyrone (Loretta) Carter, Wayne (Jackie Burney) Carter, Clarence (Tara Fontes) Carter, and only daughter Angela Carter. Her seven precious grandchildren, Helen (Wade Rollin) Carter, Chiquita Carter, Kashemma Moody, Artehanna Carter, Tayla Nolen, Clarence Carter Jr., and Jaida Carter. Her bonus grandchildren whom she adored Terrence Brown Jr., Melissa Wongus, James Theus, Cedric Wongus, Gloria Wongus, Roxy Wongus, and Warren Holmes and six great grandchildren. Johnnie also leaves; six brothers: Rufus Felder Jr., James Felder, Willie (Valerie) Felder, Joshua Felder, Clarence (Cora) Felder, and Mike Felder, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
