John Lee McQueen Jr. was born September 13,1949 in New Bern, North Carolina to the late John McQueen Sr. and Laverna Davis. He passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer.

He graduated from JT Barber High School in 1967, and from there, his life became a testament to hard work, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. He was truly a jack of all trades—and a master of them all. Whether it was carpentry, plumbing, or his true passion, cooking, he took immense pride in everything he did. He shared his skills generously, always willing to lend a hand or teach someone a thing or two. His craftsmanship was unmatched, and his meals were prepared with a lot of love—each bite filled with care.

He found joy not just in the work of his hands, but in the simplicity of life—whether it was hitting the open road for a spontaneous road trip with Kelly Mae (in only the way that he can say it) or just hanging out at the casino. He knew how to enjoy life, find peace in the little things, and live fully in every moment.

He married the love of his life Kelly on August 26, 2017. They met in kindergarten, a story that sounds like it was written in the stars. Though life took them down different paths for a while, God had a plan to bring them back together years later in Boston, Massachusetts. From that moment on, they built a life together, grounded in faith and unconditional love.

He gave his life to Christ and joined Peoples Baptist Church on August 27, 2017, where he served as a trustee, a member the men's choir as well as on various other ministries.

He is survived by his wife of eight years, Kelly M. McQueen and seven children: John McQueen III of Boston, MA, Damon McQueen of Pittsfield, MA, Mona Fuller Childs (Alvin) of Boston MA, Terence Pennington (Lisa) of Lawrence, MA, Deborah Chappell (Shawn) of Loganville, GA, April Pennington of Boston, MA, and Barbara Jones (Raymond) of Boston MA.

John was predeceased by several siblings Nettie Bowman Shelia Jordan, Frankie Rouse. He is survived by his loving siblings Marvin Rouse, Ella Vasquez, Angela Davis, Gloria Davis, Barbara Rouse, Leander McQueen, Jonnie McQueen, Larry McQueen, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
