Beloved Husband, Brother, Uncle and Friend

In loving memory of John W. Evans Jr.; a loving husband,  loving son and brother, a loyal friend, a battle tested firefighter, an avid Celtics fan and true Bostonian (Roxbury).

John was born February 4, 1961 to John W. Evans Sr. and Mildred M. Trimble (Evans) in Boston, MA. John relished his hometown and remained in Boston his entire life.

The Evans household (in particular his mother Mildred) deemed important both education and opportunity. Thus, John and all of his siblings were enrolled in the groundbreaking historical program entitled METCO. John was amongst the first group of urban Boston students to participate and spent his entire educational journey within the Lexington, MA school system.

He furthered his education when he enrolled in Middlesex Community  College. During John's years in Lexington, he met Nick Pappas who turned out to be his basketball/life coach, mentor and life-long friend. Coach Pappas nurtured John's thirst for athletics and together with the Minuteman Regional basketball "squad," they made school history and broke records that still stand to this day.

John was instructed at an early age, by his parents, to think of others first. Thus, his role as a public servant was evident with every career choice he made. From his early days delivering newspapers, to his formative years guiding and mentoring young men at the Hillside Detention Center (DYS) and  finally to his 25 years as a Boston firefighter; John's passion never wavered. His instinctive desire and commitment to serve others was a beacon for all.

Woven through the fabric of John's life was a friendship that started as a thread and developed into a rope. John's friendship/brotherhood with both  James Griffin and A.C.  has spanned over 50 years and proved to be a solid foundation for both of them to stand and soar.

John's passing leaves a blank space in our lives that we will fill with happy memories through the years. John Leaves to mourn his wife Jennifer Evans, Stepsons Eon, Louie, Step Grandchildren Kyonia, Teonnie Aquinnah and Eon, Jr.

John is predeceased in death by his parents John W. Evans Sr. and Mildred M. Trimble (Evans) and his first wife Brenda Evans. In addition, John leaves behind his siblings Dorcella Eddith, Shauna Evans, Daneir Pitts and Larry Trimble, Jr. (Jaelle). He also leaves his nieces Thais Eddith, Rhiana Pitts and Jaalah Trimble as well as nephews Trey Eddith and Allen "Zivvy" Trimble; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
