Obituary

Jessie Hill, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born on September 12, 1942, in Tallahassee, Florida, to the late Agnes Dickey (Williams) and Laurie Woody Sr., Jessie was raised in a loving and close-knit family. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Tallahassee in 1961, and in 1966, she made a bold and hopeful move to Boston, Massachusetts, where she began a new chapter of her life.

It was in Boston that Jessie married her love, Eugene Hill in October of 1966. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter, raising two children—Lisa (Hill) Adams and Marlon Hill.

Jessie devoted more than four decades of her professional life to the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, where she served with distinction retiring as Office Manager  in 2010. Her dedication, integrity, and warmth left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jessie will be remembered for her deep love of travel, her joy in spending time with family and friends, and the value she placed on meaningful friendships. Her home and heart were always open, and her presence brought comfort, wisdom, and laughter to all who knew her.

Jessie leaves to cherish her memory her son Marlon Hill of Boston MA; one brother, Laurie Woody Jr. (Helen) of Tampa, FL; one sister, Bertha Woody of Atlanta, GA; nieces, Yvette Baptiste (Neil) of Atlanta, GA; Jeannie Woody of FL; nephews Daniel Paulk of Tallahassee, FL and Robert James Woody; and a host of cousins, grandnieces, and a grandnephew across Florida, Georgia, and Texas. She also leaves behind her cherished surrogate sisters there for her through thick and thin: Eloise Waddell, Shirley Carrington, Doris White, Victoria Mitchell, and Lena Wilson.

Jessie is preceded in death by her parents Agnes and Laurie, her husband Eugene, her daughter Lisa, and siblings Ella Woody, Robert Woody, and Essie Paulk.

Her legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
