In Loving Memory of Jeffrey Anthony Mitchell

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Jeffrey Anthony Mitchell, who departed this life on February 7, 2025 at the age of 75. A devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a man of quiet strength, he leaves behind a legacy of love, sacrifice, and resilience.

Born in St. Michael, Barbados, our father made the courageous journey to the United States in search of a better life. With unwavering determination, he worked tirelessly to build a future for his family, making countless sacrifices so that we, his children, could have opportunities he only dreamed of. For decades, he served as a dedicated waiter, not just as a profession but as a testament to his work ethic, his humility, and pride in providing for his loved ones.

Food was more than sustenance to him – it was an expression of love, culture, and joy. He found immense happiness in cooking, filling our home with the rich aromas of dishes that reminded him of home. No meal was complete without his touch, and no gathering felt right without his presence in our kitchen.

Music was the heartbeat of our household, especially on Saturdays when his favorite songs would blast through the speakers, turning our home into a lively, joy-filled sanctuary. Whether it was the classics of his youth or the rhythms that kept his spirit alive, music was his way of celebrating life. Nowhere was his spirit more alive than on the dance floor. Whether it was a family gathering, a wedding, or just a song he could not resist, he moved with a joy that was infectious, his feet gliding effortlessly to the rhythm. These were the moments where he pulled others into his orbit with his warm smile, his unforgettable laugh, always with a twinkle in his eyes.

Dad loved to laugh. He had a gift for finding joy in the everyday and a knack for turning even the simplest moments into something to smile about. Through his humor, he taught us that laughter is a language of love, a bond that carries through generations. His jokes and playful spirit brought warmth to everyone who knew him.

His love for our mother was steadfast and unconditional – a bond built on devotion, laughter, and a lifetime of shared memories. When she passed, a part of him left with her, and now, we find peace knowing they are together again.

Of all his accomplishments, nothing made him prouder than his children. He instilled in us the values of hard work, kindness, and resilience. His love was limitless, his pride in us evident in every word he spoke, every sacrifice he made, and every lesson he imparted - not just in his words but in his actions. And if anything rivaled that love, it was the joy he found in his grandchildren, who brought a special light into his life.

Our father's legacy is one of perseverance, love, and unwavering dedication to family. His laughter, his resilience, and his presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the lessons he taught us and the love he gave so freely.

Rest in peace, Daddy. We will carry your love with us always.
