Obituary

Jeannette Moody was born on May 17,1948 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Arthur Lee Woods Sr and the late Ruby Woods. She was the oldest of three siblings and a loving wife of 48 years to the late Gerald Moody.

At a young age Jeannette and her family moved from Pittsburgh, PA to settle in Boston, MA. She loved to run through grass, explore the outdoors and play with her little brothers. She graduated from Girls High in Dorchester and immediately fell head over heels for the love of her life and married young. From her union with Gerald, they had 3 kids: Kevin, Derrick and Tanika. She was a stay-at-home mom when she needed to be because her kids were always her first priority. She had various jobs including being a Personal Care Assistant and a Business accountant at the Salvation Army. She landed a career as a Bus Operator for the MBTA where she would work for 25 years.

Jeannette was an independent, hardworking, private person. Her inner strength and determination were admired by her children. She was content with the simplest pleasures in life. Her pleasant personality made her easy to be around and a safe person to share your thoughts with. She was kind, caring, and easy to talk to. As a retiree, she loved to shop, collect trinkets and recipe books. She had a green thumb and loved cooking for her husband and family. She also loved to read, had a lucky way with her lottery numbers and contributed to every organization that requested her donation.

Jeannette doted on her grandchildren. Her grandchildren enjoyed monthly sleepovers at her house when they were younger. They looked forward to her making her famous Root Beer floats and Jello with whip cream. She was dedicated to being a good mom and even better grandparent.

Jeannette passed away peacefully at home on December 13, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Moody and dear son Gerald Kevin Moody.

Jeannette is survived by her children Derrick Moody, Tanika Williams and son in law Oliver Williams.

Jeannette also leaves to mourn her beloved grandchildren Kahla, Delina, Patrick, Oneil, Olijah, Olivia and Olani. Loving sister to Lawrence Woods and sister in laws Pam Woods and Stella Moody. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins will miss her deeply.
