Jeannette Delores Mannings Sisco, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away suddenly on May 2, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on February 18, 1947, in Tallahassee, Florida, to Eva Beard Mannings and D.J. Mannings. Her twin sister, Jeanne Delores, was born 45 minutes earlier to help form this loving and close-knit family. She graduated from Florida A&M University High School in 1964, Florida A&M University.  Library Science in 1967 and Boston University, master's in education/library science in 1970.

She moved to Boston to attend Boston University and STAYED. It was in Boston where she met the love of her life, John D. Sisco. Married on July 3, 1971, they have one daughter, Jamila D. Sisco.

Jeannette devoted more than three decades of her professional life in the Boston Public Schools System. She retired from Boston Public Schools as a Media Specialist in 2014 from West Roxbury High School.

Jeannette had a passion for READING. She created and founded SEEDS FOR THE SOUL, a reading program for the very young. It centered around starting to READ at an early age with a parent, and obtaining a library card

from the Boston Public Library System. With those goals, Jeannette Ofttimes asked for and received community support.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jeannette will be remembered for her deep love of gardening, taking train trips and spending time with family and friends. Her presence brought wisdom, comfort and laughter to all who knew her.

Jeannette was a member of a West Roxbury Ladies Evening Garden Club, the State Librarians Association, The Florida A&M University National Alumni Association, and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., 1965, Beta Alpha Chapter, Florida A&M University.

Jeannette leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted husband, John D., her beloved daughter, Jamila D., her twin sister, Jeanne Delores, of Atlanta, GA, cousins in Miami, Valdosta, Ohio, Detroit., a host of friends in Tallahassee, FL and Atlanta, GA.

Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents, Eva and DJ Mannings. Her legacy of love, kindness and laughter will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
