James "Jimmy" Edward McLaurin, 65, of Boston, MA, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 14, 1959, to William (deceased) and Theodora (Alexander) McLaurin, Jimmy was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His warmth, humor, and passion for life left an unforgettable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jimmy graduated from Boston Technical High School in Roxbury, MA, in 1977, where he formed lifelong friendships that he treasured. He went on to attend Hampton Institute, now known as Hampton University, an esteemed Historically Black College and University (HBCU), where he made lasting bonds and connections that shaped his life.

For 36 years, Jimmy worked as an HVAC Maintenance Engineer at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, where he was not only a dedicated and skilled professional but also a cherished colleague known for his kindness and strong work ethic.

In 2013, Jimmy underwent bypass heart surgery, a testament to his strength and resilience. Despite the challenges, he continued to live his life with the same vigor and enthusiasm, always embracing every opportunity with a positive outlook. He retired in August 2014, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, friendship, and dedication to his profession.

Jimmy had a deep love for jazz and spent many years attending the Newport and Saratoga Jazz Festivals, where he would make his way backstage to socialize and befriend the very artists he admired. His passion for music was matched by his love of photography, traveling, and visiting casinos, always embracing life's adventures with excitement and joy.

Since childhood, Jimmy spent his summers vacationing at his family home on Martha's Vineyard, a place that remained his "Happy Place" throughout his life. He found peace and happiness on the island, enjoying the beaches, fishing, sailing, and gatherings with his beloved Vineyard friends. The island was more than a retreat—it was a cherished part of his soul.

Jimmy was the life of the party at family gatherings, always entertaining everyone with his sense of humor and infectious laugh. His presence brought joy, laughter, and warmth to those around him, making every moment together more special.

Jimmy is survived by his loving mother, Theodora McLaurin; his sisters, Leigh French, Joyce McLaurin, and Carol Johnson (Anthony); his nieces, Shana Yayo (Ayobami) and Alana Johnson; his nephews, Nathan Sealy and Braxton Johnson; his great-nephew, Ayobami "AJ" Yayo, Jr.; his great-niece, Lydia Puleo; and his partner of many years, Olga Marcial. He is remembered by many family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, William McLaurin.

Jimmy's legacy of laughter, friendship, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
