James "Tommy" Brown Senior, son of Russell and Lelia (Forrest) Brown, was born January 16, 1938 in Charlottesville, Virginia. On March 28, 2024, he went home to be with the Lord.

Tommy was the 6th born of seven children where love and Christianity were taught early in childhood.

Tommy migrated to and was raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He ran track and attended the William Bacon Elementary School and John P. Timilty School, all in Boston, Massachusetts. Tommy was a hardworking man and worked for Marine Optical Inc., an eye glass frames manufacturing company from October 10, 1967 and retired in 1997. He later worked at the Museum of Science and Brigham and Women's Hospital, as a security guard part time.

Tommy was a loving and caring husband to his wife Barbara Jean Brown for 56 years (married in 1967). He prided himself in taking care of his family and rearing his son James Brown Jr., his daughter Linda Jean Brown, and doting on his granddaughter Kiana Michelle Brown.

Tommy was known to extend his care and create loving experiences for children in the neighborhood, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives. His laid back quiet demeanor always set everyone at ease, yet it welcomed you at the same time. He was well liked by relatives, neighbors and friends, who have come to know his smile and friendly conversation. He maintained warm hospitable roots and paid homage to his home state by wearing "Virginia is for Lovers" tee-shirts. Tommy enjoyed opportunities to fellowship with extended family and friends at celebratory events and just relaxing in the back yard. He cherished taking care of his front and backyard lawn, and this pride was passed on to his junior son, who enjoys the same. Tommy also enjoyed timeless R&B soul music, and in his earlier years was a member of a singing group called the "Tilters".

Tommy is preceded in death by his Siblings: Percy Brown (2018), William "Brownie" Brown (2011), Arthur "Diddy" Brown (2014), Annie Mae Faulk (2009), Sarah Brown (1995).

Tommy also leaves to cherish his memories, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
