Ian I Cotterell (Iceman), 62 of Boston, MA passed away on October 15, 2023.
Ian was born on July 27,1961, to the late Rose H. Powell and Fernando W. Cotterell in Kingston, Jamaica. Ian migrated from Jamaica to Connecticut when he was nine years old. Shortly after, he moved to Boston where he attended the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. While attending the Burke, Ian played soccer, basketball, and baseball.
After Ian graduated from the Burke High School in 1979. He then went on to attend Fitchburg State College. While attending Fitchburg, he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma and a member of the varsity basketball team. He went on to graduate with his Bachelor of Science in Sociology. Ian worked in sales before establishing his own business Trell Management & Realty Corporation, this started a 30-year career in real estate.
Ian met the love of his life Sandra Scott and got married on August 30,1986. Ian and Sandra went on to have three children, Ian S. Cotterell, Yazmin B. Cotterell and Terrick C. Cotterell.
Ian's passions consisted of family, friends, his career, coaching youth sports, and fishing. Ian enjoyed fishing every weekend with his family and friends. He loved to share his weekly catch with them, and have it served as the main dish at his infamous 4th of July parties. It filled his heart knowing he could bring his loved ones together throughout the summers. The Pop Warner community became an extended family to Ian. He was able to coach his two sons, while his daughter was a cheerleader, and he continued to stay active in his players' lives throughout high school, college and beyond.
Ian is predeceased by his brothers Frederick Cotterell, Winston Cotterell, and Donovan Cotterell. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra E Cotterell, son, Ian S Cotterell, daughter Yazmin B Cotterell, son Terrick C Cotterell, mother-in-law Maureen Mucci, siblings Keith Powell, Cheddi Cotterell, Collin A Cotterell, Noel Cotterell, Andrea Cotterell-Osuji, Joan Cotterell, Orville Cotterell, Melinda Russell, Joy Cotterell, Rohan Cotterell, Stephen Cotterell, Maurice Cotterell, Lystra Cotterell, Michael Cotterell, Charmaine Cotterell, brothers-in-laws Chika Osuji, Donald Russell, sisters-in-laws Willie Powell, Yvonne Cotterell, Jo Anne Cotterell, Cynthia Williams-Cotterell, Keisha Cotterell, Blondell Cotterell, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
