Obituary

Harold Lawton was born on September 2 1947 in Statesboro Georgia to late Henry and Lilliemae Lawton. He was the 6th of 7 children. He came to Boston at the age of 9 and attended Boston Public Schools. He later met and married Karen Bonita Qualls the love of his life  . Out of that union came 2 children, Harold Lawton Jr and Mia Lawfawn Lawton.

Although Harold had dreams of becoming a movie star he later found that his gifts were cooking, which led him to work for Valley Steak House. As time went by Harold worked for Jordan Marsh delivering furniture and eventually landed a job as a Boston taxi driver for several years.

In addition to Harold's talents he became a Grandmaster chess player of Boston undefeated. On August 13, 2017 Harold was recognized in the Boston daily life news paper as one of the best chess players in Boston of time. Out of this he was awarded several plaques and certificates.

Harold enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing spades with his family and friends. Harold was very unique as he loved the outdoors there were times his sister Earlene had to literally force  him to come in the house from sleeping on the porch in the middle of winter.  But this just speaks to the adventurous person he was. Harold love his family and was always there for them anytime no matter the occasion never complaining , which is why it wasn't a surprise to us that he volunteered at Saint Mary's church of Boston where he would serve food to the homeless for several years. Harold was seasoned and knowledgeable in the word of God where he would often prophesied.

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lillie Mae Lawton and 2 brothers Henry Lawton Jr and Myles Lawton Sr.

He leaves to mourned his wife Bonita, 2 children Harold Jr and Mia, 4 grandchildren Braden, Shane, Kyle, and Izaiah and 1 great granddaughter Skylar Marie. He also leaves to mourn 2 sisters Earlene Montgomery and Florine Raymond and 3 bothers Evandle Lawton, Carnell Lawton and Johnny Lawton. He also leaves a host of aunts uncles nieces and nephews and friends. Harold also had a special relationship with his niece and great niece Tassie Montgomery and Tanesha Montgomery who helped care for him in his last days. He will truly be missed and forever in our hearts.
