Gregory Boyd was born in Bethel, North Carolina on March 24. 1957, to the late Minera Savage, and the late Theodore Boyd. He departed this life on September 21, 2023, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Gregory was educated in Boston, Massachusetts and was a laborer. He enjoyed gardening, making new friends and travelling. He especially loved to play chess and video games. Greg had a fondness for music which he passed on to his six children. Gregory loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending quality time with his siblings. He was known as "Mc Dad" to his children.

Gregory was survived by his wife Mary Boyd, his six children; Londea Finney, Lovell Finney, Latoria Boyd, Latrell Boyd, Lakhari Boyd, and Lilah Boyd, three sisters: Regina Placid, Michelle Jones, and Michelle Jarrett, two brothers: Jimmy E. Boyd and the late Fredrick Jarret Sr. his grandchildren: Wyatt Boyd and Kora Lee Boyd, three nieces and two nephews.
