Obituary

Geraldine Carol Wood-Taylor (Gerry) of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025 at the age of 86 years old. Born on July 9, 1939, in West Medford, Massachusetts, Gerry was the eldest daughter of Mary Britto Wright of New Bedford, Massachusetts and Donald R. Wright Jr. of West Medford, Massachusetts. Gerry received her first Holy Communion as young girl and has been been a devoted Catholic for her entire lifetime. She attended Jamaica Plain High School and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, working in nursing homes with dedication and compassion. Her deep commitment to helping others led her to work at Roxbury Detoxification Center in Roxbury Massachusetts , where she assisted individuals struggling with the disease alcohol addiction. Gerry later transitioned into property management, where she spent over 45 years managing housing in her community, as a Property Manager, including Forest Hills Housing in Jamaica Plain where she retired from. Gerry was one of seven siblings. She was predeceased by Donald A. Wright of Sudbury, Massachusetts; Katherine Hamlett of San Diego, California; and Kevin L. Wright of Wilmington, Massachusetts. She is survived by Michael L. Wright of San Diego, California; Ronald Wright of Sturbridge, Massachusetts; and Judith Wright of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. She leaves behind her beloved children: Anthony Michael Wood of Haverhill, Massachusetts; Robin Marie Wood of Boston, Massachusetts; John Christopher Wood of Lynn, Massachusetts Massachusetts; Lynelle Ann Lee of Boston, Massachusetts; Keino Carlos Wood of Troy, New York; and Carol Ann Wright of San Antonio,Texas. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Later in life she married her best friend and love of her life John V. Taylor Jr. Together they traveled and vacation with family on Martha's Vineyard. John left this earth in May of 2020 leaving Geraldine with a deep sadness after 50 years together. Geraldine was deeply passionate about her community, outspoken about her politics, and a devoted sports fan—never missing a chance to cheer for her beloved New England Patriots. She love the Catholic Church and going to Mass. She also love shopping at Macy's after Mass. She will be remembered for her fierce spirit, her generosity, and her unwavering commitment to those she loved.
