With deep love and remembrance, we celebrate the life of George Edward Garner, who passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born on March 7, 1945, in Lamison, Alabama, George was the beloved son of Hattie G. (Brown) Garner of Flatwood, Alabama, and Wilson Garner of Arling ton, Alabama. Known affectionately by many names—Skillet, GG, Lil Brother, and Stuffy George—he was a man whose presence lit up every room and whose legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

George was a proud graduate of Westfield High School in Alabama. With a bold spirit and strong work ethic, he made his way to Boston, Massachusetts, where he began building a new life. His early jobs included working as a dishwasher at Mass General Hospital, followed by a role as a cab driver with ITOA. But it was at Gillette, where he truly found his professional home. As a skilled mechanic, George dedicated 32 years to the company before retiring in 1992.

Outside of work, George lived life with passion and purpose. He was an avid bow ler, but his true love was golf—a sport he began playing at just 8 years old. The Franklin Park Golf Course became his second home, where his talent and ded ication helped him rise to the level of a pro golfer. George competed and won in numerous tournaments, traveling across the state and earning the admiration of fellow golfers and spectators alike.

George was a man of quiet strength, integrity, and unwavering loyalty. He was known for his warm personality, his steady presence, and his deep commitment to family, friends, and community. As a mentor, a man of wisdom, and a pillar in the community, George left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

George's family was the heart of his world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mazzarine Garner with whom he shared a life of enduring love and partner ship. George was a proud loving father to his children Manuel Thomas (Wife Kimberley), Deirdre Thomas, Wayman Smith (Wife Kawana). George is also sur vived by his loving siblings: Curtis G. Garner (Wife Carol), Late Mildred G. Gar ner Bennett (Husband Lewitt), Wilson G. Garner Jr. (Wife Pearl), Dorothy J. Wel lington (Late Husband Lestor O'Brien), Late Senneth C. Garner (Charles) (Wife Carmen), Vera D. Garner Mastin (Ronald), Clorce F. Garner. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends.

George's life was a testament to resilience, love, and community. He will be missed more than words can express, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him.
