Eric R Smith, born to the late Dorothy Smith (Boardley) and Marshall Smith of Baltimore, MD. He departed this life on September 24, 2026. I grew up and attended school in Baltimore, MD. Served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960. Moved to Massachusetts in 1960, attended Wentworth Institute. After graduation I went to work for Gillette Safety Razor Co. where I worked as a machinist until my retirement in 1995. Eric was married to his loving wife and friend Lynell Rainey-Smith of Roslindale, MA for 41 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Dorothy Smith, six sisters, Charlotte Smith, Jean Bacon, Pamela Mitchell, Brenda Smith, Marva Smith and Ethel Boston, two brothers, Kenneth and Charles Smith. After my retirement, the wife and I liked to travel to different States. We were avid bowlers. I was a very competitive bowler in my younger years but in the latter years I join the ranks of “has beens” and I wish I could”. He leaves to cherish his memories: beloved wife, Lynell Rainey-Smith, Sons: Gary Smith, Texas, Gregory Smith, and Eric Smith Jr., S. Carolina, sister: Eunice Smith and brother Aaron Smith of Baltimore, MD., stepdaughters: Joanne Thompson, Cindy Thompson, Priscilla Thompson, Halifax, MA and Terry Rainey-Person, Taunton, MA., stepson: Eric Rainey, Mattapan, MA, grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
