Mrs. Dorothy Mae Chase was born on August 1, 1934, in Cuba, Alabama. She was the third oldest of thirteen children. In her twenties, Dorothy moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she later met the love of her life, Sylvester Chase, (preceded her in death in 2023). On May 25, 1961, they were united in marriage, and together they had four children. While living in Boston, Dorothy worked privately for several families as a part-time housekeeper. She was deeply loved and respected by those she served. Her greatest joy was being an amazing and devoted mother and grandmother. She and her husband not only raised their own children, but also lovingly raised two special grandchildren, Kania and Michael Jr., until they reached adulthood.

When asked how she's doing, Dorothy was infamous for her quote, by responding "I'm alright…. Just taking it one day at a time till the Good Lord calls me." "Nanny," as referred to by her grandchildren, enjoyed cooking, feeding neighbors, filling her candy dishes, watching daytime soap operas, Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, search word puzzle books, and talking with people. She especially cherished the long phone conversations with her sisters and friends, coffee hour with neighbors, fried lobster on Mother's Day and her birthday, and weekly trips to the supermarket. She looked forward to the summertime, when she and her husband, her children and grandchildren would take long train rides to Alabama, to attend family reunions. During her visits, she would spend a joyful time in church attending revival week with the entire family and schoolmates. These moments of togetherness, faith, and travel brought her immense happiness and created cherished memories. She truly loved her family.

Dorothy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memories, her son Noble Lee Harmon (Detroit), daughter Jacqueline Chase (Boston), son Warren Chase (Boston), 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 sisters; Glossie Harmon (Boston), Barbara Jean Childs (Alabama), and Eleanor Kendricks (Plymouth), 1 brother; Walter Harmon (Alabama) and a host of nieces and nephews.
