Doice A. Carrington, 54, of Boston, took his place among the stars on September 28th, at Boston Medical Center surrounded by family, due to   complications from a stroke.

Doice was born on August 5 1969 to Emily and Doice Carrington in the city of Boston, he was the youngest of two children.

Doice grew up in Mattapan and attended Framingham Public Schools through the METCO Program. He was on the Varsity team in high school , all four years playing basketball.. Additionally he played on various organized teams, at the Mattahunt Community Center and Almont Park. Although he was also an accomplished baseball player, basketball was his heart.

Doice graduated from Framingham North High in 1986. He then attended Morehouse College in Atlanta Georgia to pursue a degree in history. Doice graduated with a BA in history in 1990. While at Morehouse he created lifelong friends and even brought his Boston crew to Atlanta to introduce them to the social lifestyle and parties of HBCU College life.

Doice returned to Boston and did his student teaching at the Curley Middle School in Jamaica Plain. He completed his student teaching and went on to teach at Randolph Public High School. He decided to pursue a Masters Degree in Communications from Emerson College. During his time at Emerson he met and married Sherell Pinnock and had two beautiful children.

Doice had many passions and was a voracious reader. He could talk to you about anything whether it was history, sports, music or movies, he was a true renaissance man.

Doice was a family man and loved spending time with them. One of his favorite memories was Saturday morning wrestling. He and his dad would spend all day when he was a kid watching wrestling. He thought it was the best thing ever when they went to Boston Garden to see a wrestling match live.

Doice was a quiet gentle soul who never spoke bad of anyone. He was loving and always tried to help others even at the expense of himself.

He was preceded in death by his father Doice Carrington, uncle Huey Carrington of Detroit, Grandmothers Amelia Evora and Fredosha Carrington. He is survived by his wife Sherell Pinnock, his son Doice Alex Carrington, daughter Bianca Evora Carrington, step son Allan Williams, mother Emily Carrington, sister Alene Lawrence, brother in law Erroll Lawrence, and nephews Kohlman Lawrence and Erroll Lawrence. He will be truly missed by his godmother Evelyn Knight, his aunt Marie Sparks, and his cousins in Detroit, Muskegon and Massachusetts. He leaves behind a host of friends to celebrate his life.
