Delores
Jackson
Dec 22, 1941 — Apr 9, 2026
Delores Patten Jackson, affectionately known as Lois, was born December 22, 1941, in Edgefield, South Carolina to the late Eugene and Juanita (Blocker) Patten. Delores was called home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2026, in Tampa, Florida.
After spending her childhood in Edgefield, Delores married George Luther Jackson Sr., aka "Red," on February 1, 1960. Lois and Red moved to Boston and raised their three sons there. After 41 years of marriage George passed away in 2001. Delores enjoyed a long career working at The Quincy Dickerman School, Millers Beauty Supply, and many years at Harvard Vanguard. She was a strong softball player in her youth, and a competitive bowler with her team in Dorchester, amassing many trophies over the years.
Delores cherished her family and was very proud of her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her refrigerator was covered with pictures of the grandchildren and their sports and activities they enjoyed. She never missed watching her beloved Patriots and Red Sox. Over the years she enjoyed attending the annual Patten family reunion to connect with family and reminisce about their youth in Edgefield. Delores also enjoyed gardening and tending to her roses, which grew beautifully along the front yard on Otisfield Street. She will also be fondly remembered for her delicious cooking, and she made sure that anyone who stopped by for a visit left with a plate of her fried chicken.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband George L. Jackson Sr., her brothers Warren and Wallace Patten, her sister Mamie Harris, and her parents Eugene and Juanita Patten. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Keith (Sherri) of Malden Massachusetts, George (Teri) of Manassas Virginia, and Gary (Priscilla) of Tampa Florida, her sister Geneva (Charles) of Decatur Georgia, her 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
