De'Andrea Renee Owens—known affectionately to many as Deon or Lucy Bates—was a radiant force of love, laughter, and sass. Born on April 5, 1992, to Leah Britt and David Owens, Lucy lit up every room she entered with her magnetic energy and quick wit. On July 14, 2025, she passed suddenly, leaving behind a legacy of joy, resilience, and deep connection.

A proud graduate of Madison Park Technical Vocational High School (Class of 2010), De'Andrea went on to attend Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she cultivated her creativity. She later became the heart and soul of the UPS Store in Brookline, where she worked as a manager for 12 years. Most recently, she brought that same passion and dedication to her role as a claims specialist at Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she wore many hats and touched many lives.

Lucy's talents and ambitions extended far beyond her 9-to-5. She was a licensed notary public, a certified travel nail technician, and an entrepreneur. Alongside her mother, she co-founded Kater 2 U 360, a dynamic business that reflected her creativity, professionalism, and commitment to community.

The nickname "Lucy" short for "Lucillica" was given to her by her cousin Pam—her road dog, her ride-or-die, and one of her greatest partners in fun and mischief. The name stuck, just like her unforgettable spirit.

Most importantly, Deon was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Key'Lani, and her cherished fur baby, Ginger. Her love of travel was legendary—if there was a plane leaving on a weekend, she was likely on it, Jasmine by her side, and adventure in her heart. Deon shared an unbreakable bond with her sister Dranaya, who lovingly called her "Sister" since birth—a name that captured their lifelong closeness, as well as her other siblings. She was also an amazing aunt, always present for her nephews with her signature mix of humor, heart, and unconditional love.

She leaves behind a large and loving family who will continue to carry her light: her daughter Key'Lani Crump; her dog Ginger; her parents Leah Britt and David Owens; grandmother Beatrice Owens; uncles Eric and Jerome Britt; siblings Dranaya Owens-Busby (Joshua Busby), Andrew Britt, Amarn Britt, Khalia Clark, and Keith Clark Jr.; nephews Mekhi Owens and Taylin Clark; and her best friend and sister of the heart, Jasmine Stafford-Coleman. She was also a proud godmother to Madison Davis-Stafford.

De'Andrea is preceded in death by her grandparents William White and Juanita Britt, her stepfather Keith Clark Sr., and her beloved aunts Tanya Britt and Dorothy Britt.

To know her was to love her—unapologetically authentic, fiercely loyal, and endlessly loving. Her smile, her stories, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
