Darrylyn Frances Paxton was born October 27, 1972, to Darryl Stanley Paxton Sr. and Catherine Ann Wilson in Boston, Massachusetts. Darrylyn, affectionately known as "Sweet Dee", spent her youth in Boston and Medford, MA, attending the Brooks-Hervey Magnet School and Medford High School.

Following high school, Darrylyn graduated from Emerson College, where she majored in Mass Communications. While at Emerson, Darrylyn was a renowned D.J. on W.E.R.S. 88.9FM and served as Treasurer of The E.B.O.N.I. Organization. Darrylyn never missed the opportunity to remind you that she was a proud Emersonian.

Darrylyn worked hard, loved to help people, and had a bubbly personality. She held many jobs during her time, including team liaison for the Boston Celtics, production assistant to on-air personalities at W.J.M.N. 94.5FM and WHDH-TV Channel 7, and communications assistant at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. She then transitioned to a career in retail and could win the award for "Most Likely to Get a New Job". She worked at Banter, Vans, Loft, Ann Taylor, White House Black Market, Claires, Macy's, T.J. Maxx, Staples, Forever 21, Filene's Basement, and Tellos, to name a few. She strived to hold the position of keyholder, which she accomplished many times and loved. Darrylyn didn't always get to work on time, but once Darrylyn got to work, she was phenomenal.

Darrylyn had a passion for everything media and entertainment. She served as a poet, rapper, MC, and host, including as T.V. host for BNH-TV's "Strictly Hip Hop". She was also an on-air personality for her original shows "The Sweet Dee Show" on CCTV, "Yellow Tulips", "Chandelier," and "Pink Jeans" on W.M.F.O. 91.5FM at Tufts University, and "Cry-Let It All Out" Podcast.

Darrylyn loved to feature community artists, showing the way to young people in the studio and spending time with the youth of the family.

Darrylyn was known for her loving spirit and her powerful love of community. Not to be forgotten was her deep love for her family, food, and fashion. Anyone who knew Darrylyn knew that her musical passion was centered around Biggie and 2Pac.

Darrylyn departed this life on July 29, 2024, at 51 years old, after a hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer.

Her sense of humor and infectious laugh was unmatched. She was a bright light in this world, and everyone will miss her kind soul.

Darrylyn is reunited in heaven with her grandparents, Audrey Tanner and Ann Wilson (James); her parents, Darryl Paxton Sr. (Rena) and Catherine Ann Wilson; and her sisters, Sophia Whittaker and Audrey Paxton.

Darrylyn's memory is left to be cherished by her uncles, Michael Tanner (Mary Lou) and Trent Tanner (Barbara); her aunts, Joann Francis and Denise Wilson Montgomery (Martin); her siblings, Darryl, Pamela (Trayvis), and Benita Paxton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God-children, relatives, and friends.

As Darrylyn would say, "Signing off - Miss Black America. G.O.D. is #1".
