Dale Alan Simkins, cherished son of Chester Eldridge Simkins Jr. and Frances Hargrett Simkins (both deceased), was born on August 19, 1952, at Boston City Hospital in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The fourth of ten children, Dale grew up on Lenox Street in Roxbury, where he was affectionately known as "Detroit Red," a moniker he proudly adopted from Malcolm X.

In his early years, Dale enjoyed spending time at summer camp and all activities that kept him active and outside. Dale's educational journey began in the Boston Public Schools, where he discovered a love for math. He went on to earn his GED and furthered his education taking classes at Fisher Jr. College and Gordon Bible College. His commitment to learning and growing was evident throughout his life.

Dale's professional life was diverse and impactful. He worked for the MBTA and the Department of Public Works in Cambridge, where his dedication and work ethic were evident. At the age of twenty, he enlisted in the Army, undergoing basic training in South Carolina and on-the-job training in Georgia. His military career was distinguished by his rapid advancement, earning three promotions within a year. In 2003, he served a year in Iraq as a Sergeant, where his leadership and dedication were a source of strength for his platoon.

An avid sports fan, Dale's passion for the Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox was rivaled only by his love for playing basketball. On the court, he was a formidable opponent, showcasing his athletic prowess. He often joked with his grandson, Eddie Dale, that he could still beat him in basketball despite Eddie's height advantage.

His unwavering upkeep of his yard was unmatched, and he often claimed that his lawn rivaled Fenway Park. Dale's green thumb was most evident in his care for his roses, his favorite flowers. Deep-sea fishing, particularly for haddock, was one of Dale's favorite pastimes. He was also a skilled handyman, taking on home improvement projects with enthusiasm and skill. From building walkways and fences to kitchen and bedroom renovations, his handiwork was a testament to his creativity and determination.

Dale had a flair for fashion and took great pride in his appearance. Known for his stylish outfits, he was always ready to model and loved being in front of the camera. His commitment to fitness and grooming was evident making him a striking and handsome man.

His spiritual journey began at St. John's Episcopal Church and later led him to Mount Calvary in Boston, where he became a devoted deacon. Dale's faith was central to his life. He was a strong prayer warrior and a source of mentorship and inspiration to many who knew him at their lowest points. He was always counted on to lead the family in prayer, and gladly took on that role.

Dale shared a loving marriage with Cynthia Stephens. They remained best friends and enjoyed a deep and enduring relationship. The joys of his life were his daughter, Cynthiadale, and his grandsons, Davarrio (deceased) and Eddie Dale. He and Cynthiadale enjoyed spending time together and just hanging out watching Judge Judy and cooking. He took great enjoyment in watching and supporting Eddie Dale's growth into a young man. Dale found peace in knowing he had planted seeds of wisdom and faith in their lives.

Dale was predeceased by his parents Chester Eldridge Simkins Jr. and Frances Hargrett Simkins, his brother Chester Eldridge Simkins III, and grandson Davarrio Ja'cyn Lewis. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Cynthiadale Simkins, grandson Eddie Dale Massie, Cynthia Stephens, and siblings Alicia (Elbert) Simkins, Vaughn Simkins, Gwendolyn Simkins Regnier, Lori Simkins, Keith Simkins, Renee (Mark) Williams, Sandra (Montell) Brown, and Bevette (Kevin) Davis. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws who loved him dearly.

Dale Alan Simkins was truly a loved man, a servant of God, and will forever remain in our hearts.
