Obituary

Pastor Corlys B. Terry was born on November 20, 1929, daughter of the late Ida Ellington Davis and Robert Redding of Mount Vernon, New York.  She departed this life on June 25, 2024.  Married to the late Bishop Jonah Terry until he was called home, 1984.  She and her husband were founders of the Mount Calvary Apostolic Church Bronx, New York in which she served as co-pastor. In 1985 she was ordained as Reverend Corlys Terry and pastored the church after the death of her husband.  She always loved to be called "Mother Terry" as well as Pastor Terry.

Educated in Mount Vernon Public Schools and later in her adult years, graduated from the College of New Rochelle with a major in Theology and Early Childhood Education. She served as secretary to the pastor at Macedonia Baptist Church, in New York. Worked as accountant for the Department of Social Services and the Urban League of New York. Pastor Terry was a foster parent for two veterans, served on Task Force to reorganize Family Daycare for Children and was a director of a summer camp for children. She had a passion for "Love" for children. She wrote many religious tracts and was in the process of writing a Christian book titled, They who Testify of Me; but did not complete it on account of her health.

Pastor Terry was frequently known as a "Soul Winner of Souls for the Lord." Written signs around the front yard of her house saying, "Jesus is Coming and Vote for Jesus a Sure Winner." She always had a loud "Hallelujah" praise. She loved the Jesus, children, flowers and trees.  Teaching the Bible was her happiness and joy.

Pastor Terry moved to Waterbury, Connecticut in 1997 and worked with several churches in the area.  At the time of her death, she was a member of the church, The Rock of Waterbury under the leadership of Apostle William Ulsch, Pastor.

Pastor leaves to mourn her beloved and only daughter, Minister Leslie Physic, and son-in-law, George Physic. Two grandchildren, Charlemagne Dunbar Physic, and Elgin Physic.  Six great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren and a host of friends in New York and Connecticut.
