Claude A.
James, Jr.
Mar 9, 1949 — Sep 6, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Claude Anthony James, Jr., affectionately known as "Jasen" on September, 6th, 2025.
Claude is the son of Frances and Claude A. James, Sr. He was born in Brighton, Alabama on March 9, 1949.
He was a loving father and grandfather, first and foremost. But will be remembered as a dapper dresser, a hard worker, a brilliant engineer, and a true friend to all. He had the ability to make, build, and fix anything and if he could, he would have spent any leisure time he had fishing in a calm and quiet environment. A kind man, he enjoyed and took pride in helping others. All who knew him, will recall his love for brims and that he always coordinated them his outfits.
He will be missed by his beloved daughters, Schanna James, Mercedes James, and Jasmin James, all of Massachusetts. His siblings include sisters, Ruby Barnes of Texas, Schanna Winfield, Consuelo James, Yosandra Case, and Avis Moore, of Alabama, as well as his brother, Thomas James. He was preceded in death by his sisters Wanda Kay Reid, Frankie Lynn Beaver, and brother Durwood James all of Alabama.
He was Pa to grandsons, Jordan James, Reuel "Jailand" Toney, Amin Toney, Rhory Lender, and Blake Sheppard, and granddaughter, Noelle Sheppard.
He was Uncle Buddy to a host of nieces and newphews, and forever family to Patrice Williams.
This devoted family man, loving brother, and caring friend has been received by God into Paradise.
