Clarence "Sonny" Bailey was born on November 17, 1942, in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Amy Bailey-Littlejohn. He was the oldest of ten children, five brothers and four sisters. Clarence loved The LORD and was baptized at an early age at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Packard, SC.

Clarence received his education at Benjamin Elijah Mays High School in South Carolina and shortly after graduating, he relocated to Bridgeport, CT with his family.

Sonny was adventurous and had a desire to walk his own path in life, which led him to move to Boston, Massachusetts. He gained employment at the American Electroplating Gold Company in Somerville, MA where he devoted on a lifelong career for 28 years. He was independent and enjoyed going to work everyday until he retired in 2007.

Sonny always presented himself as a quiet and shy person, but once he warmed up to you, his great sense of humor became evident. He was an easy-going person and frequently lent his ear to others. He was compassionate with a lot of knowledge and he didn't mind sharing it. Sonny enjoyed reading and was an avid reader of the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald. He had to read those papers every day as if it were his daily ritual.

When it came to music, Sonny loved to listen to R&B music. He looked forward to his monthly ritual with his daughter Regina that consisted of her taking him to run his errands. This was not a time of labor for Regina but a time of love as they both enjoyed the quality time they spent together. During those times, no matter where they had to go or what errand needed to be completed, there was one task that was a must. Sonny was adamant that his daughter fulfilled the most important task of the day, which was a trip to his favorite take-out spot, Kentucky Fried Chicken.

On New Year's Eve at 1:09 AM, Sonny transitioned peacefully at Boston Medical Center due to respiratory failure and his long battle with cancer. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Amy Bailey-Littlejohn; brother, Kenneth "Kenny" Bailey; and sister, Mabel Bailey.

Clarence leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Regina Harris, of Boston, MA.; granddaughter, Kadijah King, of Boston MA.; brothers, James Bailey, of Bridgeport, CT.; Thomas Bailey, of Hartford, CT.; Anthony Bailey, of Stratford, CT.; Larry Bailey, of Bridgeport, CT.; his sisters, Jeanette Bailey, of Boston, MA., Krista Littlejohn, of Bridgeport, CT.; Marilyn Rucker, of Hartwell, GA. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, cousins, and close friends. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
