Medford
Christine Ann Ely was born November 04, 1947 at Lawrence Memorial to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Benjamin Beasley and Phyllis Beasley. Christine was born and raised in Medford, attending the Medford School System and graduated Class of 1965 from Medford High. After high school, she attended Chamberlayne Junior College.
Born a Beasley, Christine became Mrs. Christine Ely after she met and married Morris E. Ely, Sr. just after 9 months of dating. From this union of 52 years was born one son: Morris E. Ely, Jr.
Christine worked faithfully as an administrator for various insurance companies and institutions. Her proficiency in administration opened many doors of opportunity for her to share her talents, especially her ability to type as fast as you could speak without error. Mrs. Ely worked as a Senior Administrative Assistant for The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University for 10 years, finally retiring from Pioneer Investments as an Executive Administrative Assistant after an impressive career spanning nearly 40 years in the corporate workforce.
Christine was a beautiful soul with a beautiful sound. She loved to sing and was a part of a singing group growing up. She captivated audiences with her melodious voice every time she would appear on stage. In addition to her love for singing Christine enjoyed cooking. She got it honest, learning how to cook from her father who was a notable chef.
Some of her favorite pastimes included: watching the soaps, especially The Young and The Restless, shopping for shoe and bags, and has three closets to prove it, she also loved reading. Christine would ride the train daily to and from w never without a book in hand.
Christine was as beautiful on the inside, just as she was outwardly. She had the biggest smile and the biggest heart. Her love for family was undeniably evident.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband: Morris E. Ely, Sr.; one son: Morris E. Ely, Jr.; one granddaughter: Gianna Marie Ely; one brother: Gary Alleyne (wife: Charmaine); nephew: Grant Alleyne; two sisters-in-law: Paulette Norman Deborah Ely; one brother-in-law: David Ely; Godchildren: Natalie Evans and Sonya Patton; close friends: Marsha Covington, Francine Harris, Nancy Lopez, Letha Roberts and Jacky Whitaker; along with a host of extended family and dear friends.
