Christian Rose Scott, lovingly known as Chris, Dad, Pops, Uncle Christian, Grampz, and Gampy, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 14, 1937, in Onset, Massachusetts, Chris was raised in Roxbury, on Madison Street aka "Scott's Alley". He was the son of Karl and Christine (Rose) Scott and was predeceased by his six siblings: Reggie, Ernie, Teddy, Payme (Timothy), Ilanga (Arnold), and Karen (Scott) Mallory. Chris attended Boston Trade High School and as a teenager joined the Band of Angels, a Roxbury-based social club started by Ilanga and Karen, where he remained active in the community and made lifelong friendships.

Chris was a founding member of the legendary doo-wop group The G-Clefs, formed in the early 1950s with three of his brothers and friends Ray Gipson and Joe Jordan. The group began singing on street corners and in public housing corridors before a talent scout discovered them. They performed at the Strand Theatre and the Sugar Shack; the Apollo Theater and the Ed Sullivan Show; and in Europe and Japan. The G-Clefs continued singing in oldies-but-goodies shows into the early 2000s, and were inducted into the New England Music Hall of Fame.

For almost two decades, Chris also enjoyed performing with his brother, Ilanga, in Tony Williams' Urban Nutcracker production as a member of the four doo-wop singers.

In addition to his lifelong passion for music, he loved sports, including playing in softball leagues at the old Washington Park in Roxbury in the 70s and 80s, and watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots in his later years. Chris built a long and steady career in facilities management, working almost four decades with Prudential Services and then the Charles River Park/The New Boston Fund Companies, before retiring in 2007. He was respected by both coworkers and tenants for his dependability and pride in his work.

Though reserved by nature, Chris was always present for his family and friends, offering steady support, a helping hand, and quiet wisdom. His kindness, humility, and enduring love left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Chris is survived by children, Charlene, Kim (and Chauncey), Shawn (and Donna), and Sharon (and Dean) and is predeceased by son Christian (Bugsy). He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
