Celia Josephine “CJ” Carle was born on Sunday, August 25, 1946, to Charles Carle, Sr. and Thelma (Huff) Carle while they were living on Savin Street in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Celia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

CJ grew up in Boston alongside her siblings: Barbara “Pinkey” Crosby, Charles “Brother” Carle, Jr., Ira “Irie” Carle, Edward “Eddie” Carle, and Thelma “Alice” Addo. As the third child and second daughter in a lively household, CJ enjoyed the warmth of being surrounded by a close‑knit family. Whether walking up or down the street to visit her many aunts or showing off her best dress at church on Easter Sunday.

She attended Patrick T. Campbell Junior High School and later graduated from Girls’ High School. After graduation, she went to work for New England Merchants National Bank of Boston. CJ celebrated the arrival of the two greatest blessings of her life: the births of her sons. James “Jimmy” Carle, born on September 7, 1965, and later Dana Carle, born on July 14, 1968. Determined to further her education, CJ earned her Associate’s Degree from Northeastern University in 1986 and her Bachelor’s Degree from the same university in 1988.

Following her retirement from Lifeline in Framingham, MA, CJ enjoyed pursuing her passions, such as crocheting, and testing her luck with scratch‑off tickets, of which she was often a winner. She loved watching a variety of television shows, especially old Westerns. CJ had a remarkable memory for birthdays and family trivia, able to place any name on the family tree and tell anyone their age. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Brockton, MA where she served as a Pastor’s aide. CJ held a deep appreciation for a good book, old‑school music and had a well‑known love for Philly cheesesteaks and pizza. Nothing, however, compared to her love for the casino, except her joy in preparing the Thanksgiving ham or getting her hair done and proudly showing off how much her hair had grown.

Preceding CJ in death are her parents, Charles Carle Sr. and Thelma (Huff) Carle; her beloved son James “Jimmy” Carle; and her siblings Barbara “Pinkey” Crosby, Charles “Brother” Carle Jr., and Edward “Eddie” Carle.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Dana Carle; her siblings Ira Carle (Selena) and Thelma “Alice” Addo; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; best friend Carol Roberts, and those who will forever cherish her memory.
